The cost of train travel has become controversial in recent times due to increases beyond the rate of inflation. Given that, I reckon that it might be of interest to log selected train fares here, adding to them as I do along.

There was a time when I travelled by train more than I do today, so the entries may accumulate at a slower rate than once was the case. Nevertheless, my hope remains that whatever finds its way here is of interest and is helpful for travel budgeting.

All information is provided in good faith though I may not get to update it as often as I’d like. So, the date when I last checked any fare appears in brackets after the price itself, so you can assess the usefulness of what you find below. Also, some fares may be of interest to those affected by cuts to bus services in Cheshire East during the past decade or so, especially given their effect on evening and weekend services.
